Q.01How much does a new roof or roof repair cost in Surrey?
It depends on the roof size, type (flat or pitched) and the materials — EPDM, GRP, felt or tiles. We survey the roof first and price it with everything included, so the cost you are given is the price you pay. Get an estimate and we will come out and assess it.
Q.02How long does it take to install a new roof?
A small flat roof can be done in one to two days; a full pitched re-roof typically takes several days to a week depending on size, access and weather. We confirm the timescale in your quote before any work starts.
Q.03Do you offer emergency roof repairs in Surrey?
Yes. We cover emergency roof repairs across Surrey, within about ten miles of our Godstone office — leaks, slipped tiles and storm damage. Being based in Godstone means we can get to site quickly when a roof fails.
Q.04What types of flat roofing do you install?
We fit EPDM rubber, GRP fibreglass and felt flat roofing systems for extensions, garages, dormers and outbuildings. We will recommend the right system for your roof and budget at the survey.
Q.05Who actually carries out the roofing work?
Roofing is a specialist trade, so SG brings in roofers it has worked with for years and manages them on site. SG surveys the roof, prices it, runs the job and stays answerable for the result, so there is one firm to deal with from survey to handover and one firm to call if a repair needs revisiting.
Q.06Are you insured?
Yes. SG carry £5 million public liability cover and £5 million employers' liability cover, and we can provide the certificates before work starts if you would like to see them. It is a fair question to ask any builder and you should not have to chase the answer.
Q.07Will a repair do, or do I need a new roof?
Often a repair will see a roof right for years, and we will tell you when that is the case. We look over the whole roof, explain in plain terms what we have found, and price both options where both make sense so the choice is yours.
Q.08Do you do small jobs as well as complete roofs?
Yes. A couple of tiles, a leak, or a length of guttering are all worth doing and we are happy to come out for them. We fit complete new roofs too, and the same team does both.
Q.09How soon can you come and look at a leak in East Grinstead?
We cover the whole of East Grinstead and the surrounding villages from our base at 27 High Street, Godstone. If there is water coming in we will get someone out to look, make it safe, and then price the permanent repair properly rather than guess at it in the rain.
